In France and some other countries, some automatic tolls and car parks still have offline terminals. It means that these terminals can't send authorisation requests to our servers to know if your account has a sufficient balance to pay for the transaction (which avoids shortfalls to take place).
You may therefore not be able to use your card in points of sale using offline terminals such as some car parks and road tolls.
However, these terminals are currently being replaced by online terminals to comply with the EMV rules (Eurocard, MasterCard, Visa) and it is most likely that most of the terminals you will be using in these locations are already online.
